Our next book was the sole choice of Mindy – and an almost-classic. I am a big Jane Austen fan, but I had never read this book. I have to say it doesn’t hold up as well for me as her later works. It reads almost as a parody of the gothic mystery novels that were popular at the time, but you’d have to be familiar with the type to truly appreciate what she was attempting. Personally, I recommend reading Pride and Prejudice again instead.

I always enjoy a Jane Austen novel but tend to agree with Rebecca. This book is fun but kind of frivolous.
I didn't make it through. I have started this book three times and in fact, it sits on my nightstand this very moment as a reminder that I have given up.
I actually read this one. Not Ms. Austen's best work. Which is obvious from the lack of Hollywood blockbusters knocking on the Abbey door.
